Participating in the Global Career Accelerator at Arizona State University reminded me that even when you bring experience to a class, there is always more to learn. I came in familiar with digital marketing tools and my own preferences for building online stores. I left with new resources, greater confidence, and a clearer idea of the skills I want to develop next.
My Biggest Aha Moment
My biggest “aha” moment was discovering free tools that can help me research keywords and evaluate their potential effectiveness on Google. I was already familiar with Semrush and had used similar tools, but I hadn’t realized how much I could explore with free resources.
That discovery expanded my toolkit. I now feel more confident finding effective keywords and making more informed decisions about which ones to use in my content.
What I Enjoyed
One part of the program I especially appreciated was getting help with my résumé. Building new skills matters, but so does learning how to communicate the experience and knowledge I already have.
I also enjoyed challenging my assumptions about Shopify. It turned out to be more useful than I had expected. I still prefer building my own store with WooCommerce, but learning about Shopify helped me approach another platform with a more open mind.
Where I Want to Grow
My next goal is to strengthen my search engine optimization (SEO) and audience engagement skills. Finding effective keywords is a starting point. I want to get better at using them strategically, creating content that connects with people, and measuring what works.
For me, growth means understanding both how people discover content and what makes them want to engage with it.
What Makes Me Proud
I am proud of going the extra mile and earning an A+ in this class. That grade reflects the effort I put into the experience and my commitment to doing well.
I’m also proud of the knowledge I brought with me—and my willingness to build on it. This program showed me that prior experience and new learning can go hand in hand. I can appreciate what I already know while staying open to tools, platforms, and ideas that make me better.
